About Me

Hello! My name is Jorge Hermes. I am Brazilian, a native Portuguese speaker and fluent in English (C2 level), with beginner knowledge of German and Spanish. Since childhood, I have nurtured a passion for technology and continuous learning, starting my journey in programming at the age of 8. Outside the professional environment, I am a curious, dedicated, and collaborative person who values work-life balance. I enjoy reading classic and technical literature, engaging in physical activities, attending technology events, and also appreciate music, detective series, and RPG games.

Currently, I work as a Software Development Intern on the Software Architecture team at Gaudium, where I contribute to designing and analyzing high-performance, scalable distributed systems by supporting technical analysis, documenting architectural decisions, participating in code reviews, and creating proofs of concept. My professional experience also includes an internship at COSANPA, where I developed complete solutions such as a pitometric data registration system, a data management system via Modbus TCP, and data modeling for a robust inventory and work order management system. Among my highlighted projects, I emphasize Estuda.Ai, a 100% serverless, cloud-native platform developed as the final project for the AWS re/Start + AI course at Escola da Nuvem, which uses Artificial Intelligence to democratize access to ENEM preparation. Additionally, my contributions to projects on the Roblox platform have already surpassed 800 million visits.

Academically, I am a 3rd-semester Software Engineering student at the State University of Pará (UEPA), with a GPA of 9.8. I am recognized for my engagement and leadership, acting as class representative, peer mentor, collaborator in labs, extension projects, and the Academic Center (CAESoft), as well as participating in article production and assisting in classes. I always strive to foster a collaborative and mutually growing environment.

I have a strong commitment to the technology community. As a volunteer organizer, I have contributed to events like the Leveling Program for new students at UEPA and UFPA, BRACIS, FOSS4G, Python Norte—where I also gave a talk on serverless architectureSemana do Calouro UEPA, and the UEPA Vocational Fair. I also designed and delivered a "Structured Programming in C" workshop for public school students. Furthermore, I developed the Academic Center (CAESoft) website from scratch and represent UEPA in the Porãygua Dev Group community, expanding my impact on the regional tech ecosystem. Through these experiences, such as mediating academic discussions and giving technical presentations, I have honed assertive communication and leadership skills.

My main technical skills include Cloud & DevOps (AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD), full-stack development (Go/Gin, Rust, Java/Spring, Python/Django, Node/Express, React, Vue, Next.js, Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML/CSS), relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Firebase), and security (Google Cybersecurity Certificate, secure coding, SAST/DAST, cloud security). I follow principles of clean and efficient software engineering, inspired by works like "The Pragmatic Programmer," and am currently preparing for the AWS AI Practitioner certification.

I am always seeking challenging opportunities to apply and expand my knowledge, contributing to innovative projects and the development of the technology ecosystem. Feel free to check out my projects on GitHub or connect with me on LinkedIn!
